In imprisoned freedom, Frans Custers let go of the fight against the flow of life (loop der dingen) and find himself in a new freedom which is more oppressive than offering possibilities of living. Just a coincidental liberation from the cage of restrictions, give way to the borderlessness of life.
Imprisoned Freedom is a 15 minute experimental movement performance, which resembles Japanese Butoh dance. It is suitable best for small stages in festivals, special outside and nature locations. The quality of the performance shows itself most in a non-disturbed area.In Imprisoned Freedom, a tree trunk or a coloumn is used as a base for performing. A forest, rural area or park is the ideal performing location, but street festival locations also give magnificent possibilities. A sound system is required but if necessary it can be provided also. Since all the body needs to be painted, a proper dressing room is needed.
